Starlynn Nance

I am a Professor of Education and director of the social studies program at the University of Central Missouri. I am a former high school social studies teacher and have taught in public and private schools.  I have contributed to two Hollywood and History? books and was the sole author of Hollywood or History? An Inquiry-Based Strategy for Using Television Shows to Teach Issue-Centered Curriculum.  I have been published in Middle Grades Research JournalOregon Journal of Social StudiesTeaching Social Studies, and have contributed to books such as Teaching Social Studies: A Methods Book for Method Teachers and Cinematic Social Studies: A Resource for Teaching and Learning Social Studies in Film. My research interests are culturally responsive teaching, the C3 Framework, and issue-centered curriculum.
