Beginning in the 1950s, the US Civil Rights Movement led to Supreme Court decisions and landmark legislation that promised to end legalized segregation, racial discrimination, and provide equal opportunities for millions of Americans.
But recent court decisions have overturned affirmative action laws and in the wake of the 2020 elections, many states have enacted laws that have made voting more restrictive, effectively disenfranchising many minority and low-income voters. So, have the goals of the Civil Rights movement been achieved?
