The French Algerian War

The war between Algeria and France was brutal and has left a lasting legacy in both countries. It took until 1999 for a French government to accept that it was indeed a war of independence rather than a secessionist rebellion. This video explains the war from both the Algerian and the French perspectives. Some familiarity with the French language would be helpful because although the spoken narratives are in English, the sources themselves are in French.
